Chronic gastritis is a chronic gastric lesion, pathologically characterized by nonspecific chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa. Chronic gastritis can be divided into two categories, primary and secondary. The former is further categorized into superficial, atrophic and hypertrophic types; the latter often complicates gastroduodenal ulcer and gastric cancer.

Stagnation of the Liver-Qi attacking the Stomach


Epigastric distension, pain, fullness, oppression and discomfort which is aggravated after meals, frequent belching which may be aggravated by emotional upset, thin and white coating of the tongue, and deep taut pulse.

5. Healing by Other Therapies

(a) Qigong and other therapies

For effect of Qigong on the Nervous System Function, click here.

Generally speaking, Qigong is good for healing effect of this specific ailment, however individual results may vary. It improves the flow of the qi and the circulation of the blood, so you'll experience more energy, but, you won't see/ feel any immediate effects, as with many exercises and therapies, it takes a few weeks or even months of practice before you'll see any significant improvements.

(b) Medicated diet
1. Poria (Fuling) 15g, Coix Seed (Yiyiren) 15g, rice 60g, put 4 cups of water then soak for 20 minutes, have it boiled for 30 minutes to make rice gruel, eat once a day for 4 weeks.

(c) Life style
1. Don't eat raw, cold, special food and deep-fried food.
2. Take regular meals on time, avoid excessive food and/or drink at one meal.
3. Avoid mental stress and overstrain.
4. Don't take any medications which has side effect to irritate gastric mucosa.
