Loss of sex desire is more accurately the diminishing of sexual desire by one of the several psychological or biologic mechanisms. A variety of factors can lead to loss of libido, including physical illness, hormonal abnormalities, depression, and interpersonal problems. Generally, very few women lose interest in sex as a result of disease, drugs, or hormonal imbalance. However, anger, conflict, stress, alcohol, fatigue, and some drugs can temporarily affect sexual desire. Drugs that can decrease sexual desire include narcotics and tranquilizers.
