1. Overview and Causes
¡@

As we all may know, life hasn't been a "piece of cake" for all of us. Some stressful events may happen suddenly or unexpectedly. Others might be more predictable and may continue for a numerous amount of years. Sometimes stress is just a part of life, which can be irritating. A stressful event can cause a variety of effects on different types of people depending on how each person experiences it. Some people are more resilient to stress than others. Some people are more vulnerable individuals who find even minor problems unbearable. The symptoms of stress usually resolve over a period of days to weeks, in some cases they persist for a long time or evolve into a more serious condition. Having an unpleasant reaction to a stressful event is entirely “normal? The essence of stress disorder is an inappropriate or excessive emotional or behavioral response that is maladaptive, which far exceeds what would be expected given the severity of the stressful event, and makes a bad situation worse.
