Liver cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the world. Liver
cancer is most popular in Asian countries because of the large number
of hepatitis patients in Asia. Liver is one of the most important
organs in the body that removes impurities from the blood and produces
enzymes to digest food
|
In Chinese medicine, liver is used for storing Blood. Its function is
mainly in the regulation of emotions and spirit, promoting digestion and
absorption, and to maintain blood and body fluid running. It regulates
"Qi", which is extremely important to both our physical and
emotional health.
Types
There is only one type of liver cancer, although it can have different
symptoms in adults and children. Liver cancer can develop as a primary
liver cancer, which begins in the liver cells. This form of liver cancer
is usually referred to as hepatoblastoma or hepatocellular carcinoma.
In case it is undetected or untreated, cancer cells usually spread to
lymph nodes, bones and lungs. Cancer that spreads in this manner is known
as a secondary liver cancer or a secondary tumor.
Symptoms
Unfortunately, there are no symptoms in the early stages of liver cancer.
By the time a patient starts experiencing pain, the cancer has already
progressed to the advanced stage. Some of the common symptoms of advanced
liver cancer include loss of weight quickly and without reasons, loss
of appetite, feeling extremely tired, nausea and vomiting, fever, jaundice,
(yellowing of skin and eyes and dark-colored urine), feelings of fullness,
abdominal bloating, inflammation of liver, fibrosis and abdominal pain
on the right side of the body which can extend to the shoulders.
Causes
Some research found that liver cancer is closely related to chronic liver
infection such as hepatitis B or hepatitis C, and cirrhosis of the liver.
Treatment
Western Medicine treatment options for liver cancer include surgery, chemotherapy,
radiation therapy and precutaneous ethanol injections. These treatments
are dependent on the stage of the cancer, the size of tumors and the patient's
health and age.
We strongly recommend that the patients should use Western medicine as
the primary and major treatment option for liver cancer. Western Cancer
therapies such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery are now commonly
used and are supposed to be the best methods to treat this threatening
disease.
However, the side effects of these treatments have been, there as here,
often highly debilitating. As a fact that, western therapies kill the
cancer cells effectively, but they always, does not address the source
of the problem.
Chinese Medicine and acupuncture can be used as supporting treatment
working hand in hand with western medicine. Many researches worldwide
indicate that the best results against Cancer are obtained by means of
a joint treatment combining Western medicine Traditional Chinese Medicine,
with the patient pursuing a suitable diet, and therapeutic exercise.
Psychological adaptation is also an important factor for the patient
to this Chronic and Severe Illness. The philosophy behind Traditional
Chinese medicine may relieve the anxiety of the patient.
