Tui Na (Massage)
 |
Tui Na (pronounced twee-nah)
is a noninvasive alternative massage technique that relies on
the stimulation of acupoints (meridian points). This traditional
Chinese massage employs over a dozen different techniques such
as stroking, kneading, rubbing, pressing, knocking, and vibrating.
Tui Na is a technique similar |
in practice to Shiatsu and acupressure massage. Due to its noninvasive nature,
Tui Na is often used as an alternative to acupuncture.
Rooted from TCM theories, including the use of channels and points,
Tui Na is excellent for strengthening the body's immune system,
improving circulation, and elimination of diseases. Tui Na is highly
tuned towards the treatment of specific musculoskeletal disorders
and chronic stress-related disorders of the digestive, respiratory
and reproductive system.
Due to the nature of Tui Na, it is not recommended for those seeking
a relaxing, mild, or sedating massage. It intends to focus on a
specific area of Qi stimulation, in contrast to supplying the generalized
approach of other common massage styles.
Sessions generally last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. However depending
on your specific needs, the physician may suggest additional treatment.
